Big news—Yesterday, 2nd grader Anwita Seshan and her amazing teacher, Kelsie Sanders, were awarded 1st place in the district's My Favorite Teacher Essay Contest! We're so proud of Anwita for her heartfelt drawing and of Ms. Sanders for being the kind of teacher who inspires her students every day. Huge congratulations to both of these amazing ladies!
It's day 4 of Staff Appreciation week and today we are shouting out all of our incredible speech and occupational and physical therapists, our school psychologist and our school counselors! These individuals work tirelessly to make sure that all of our students get all the support they need! Let's hear it for these hard working teams!

I mean, what is not to love about Mr. Calderalo? If you have met him, you completely understand the joy that we have for having him on our staff! He is a literal feel-good guy! He has the patience and the understanding for our most special students. He is approachable and easy to work with for all of us. He jumps in to lend a hand wherever there is a need. He has built amazing relationships with our SPED team and anyone else that has been lucky enough to cross paths with him in day to day life. If you haven't seen him playing his guitar for our babies, put it on your to do list! He is just the best and we are so lucky to have him at HES!

FIT KIDS registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open! Please note, student selection will occur through a random lottery process. Also, each student must be registered on a separate form. Only 1 registration per student, please. Notifications of acceptance into the program will be emailed in early June. You must be a fully registered HES student to apply.

You already know. Brandy Engel is a rock star. She is so professional...so dedicated...so passionate....so smart. We are so blessed to have her. Many of us came into the school year nervous about LETRS and how hard it was going to be. Brandy made SURE that it was a piece of cake for all of us....she worked TIRELESSLY to make things move quickly and to protect teacher's valuable time. She puts that same effort and care into everything she does. She ALWAYS is working to support teachers. She holds her expectations rightfully high but she makes them attainable every single day. She has supported our district literacy team in the HMH adoption process and is cranking out helpful documents faster than we can read them! She has a can-do, will-do attitude and we are so incredibly lucky to call her ours.

Ms. Wheeler is a fantastic teacher who loves and supports her students each day! She sets high expectations for student performance and behavior every day that students step into her classroom. We love how much passion she brings to her students in ELA by bringing life into the stories and class readings. She not only works hard inside the classroom but outside as well. Our school welcomes her passion for theater and all of her contributions to helping with Aladdin! She worked tirelessly to give students direction and provide choreography to make Aladdin such an amazing performance for our community to experience. We are thankful to have such a great person on our team at Harrisburg!
